Ordering


To place an order for stencils together with a PCB order, upload your manufacturing files in the stencil section on the PCB order form and open the SMT Stencil tab below the PCB Assembly section. To place an order for stencils individually, please use this form here. Upload the Gerber files and fill in the stencil parameters according to your requirements. If no issues are found with the order, the stencil will be manufactured within 24 hours and dispatched within 1 working day (excludes Chinese Festivals).

File Requirements


For stencils, we require the SMT Paste Gerber files (.GTP .GTB). These are not the same as the solder mask layers! Solder mask layers also contain drill hole data which is typically not needed for SMT stencils (unless used for mounting). The data can be of panelized boards or individual boards; we will include all the SMT openings found in the stencil files as long as they fit in the effective area. (If you want panelized data you will have to do this yourself. We currently do not provide this service).


Production Notes


We will try to identify the bottom layer and mirror it so the solder paste only needs to be applied onto one side of the stencil. This is required by some automated paste applicators.

If the board outline is also included, we will also try to fit this in the effective area.

    For both Top and Bottom paste sides on one stencil
    Please provide either:
    - Top and bottom paste layers (GTP/GBP).

    - Top and bottom solder mask layers (GTS/GBS). The engineers can use these directly to 'calculate' the SMT openings and manually generate the paste layers. Not recommended for special requirements.

    - Just all the Gerber files typically submitted for PCB manufacture. If there are also paste layers included, we will follow these directly. If not, then the engineers will try to calculate the paste layers as in the above situation.

    For stencils only required for one side
    Please provide just the top or bottom paste layer (GTP/GBP). The GBP layer will be mirrored. Please ensure the file is labeled .GBP so we know it should be mirrored.

    One stencil required for the top side and one stencil required for the bottom side:
    Please separate them into two stencil orders. Upload the GTP file, add it to the cart and then do the same for the GBP file. Please ensure the bottom side is labeled GBP.

      Notes:
      - All prices quoted in USD.
      - For fine-pitch openings and BGAs, the stencil thickness may be changed to 0.10mm for more effective paste release and to reduce paste volume.
      - Electropolishing is currently not available due to local environmental restrictions

Effective Area and Pricing


Your stencil must be large enough to fit the board data into the Effective Area of the stencil. Not the actual stencil size. The effective area is the central region where SMT pads can be cut into the sheet, the remaining space forms the stencil margin and cannot be cut.
