Customs, Duties and Taxes
For China Warehouse
Our standard terms are DAP (Delivered at Place). Customers are responsible for entry fees, duties, taxes, inspection fees, and storage fees upon delivery. Note: Once the package is shipped, we are not liable for any extra charges. If customers refuse to pay these fees, return shipping and additional costs will be deducted from the order, with any remaining balance refunded.
Currently, most Seeed products (development boards, sensors) are exempt from the new 125% reciprocal tariff but still face a 45% base tariff. Complete systems like weather stations face full 170% tariffs. Importantly, the $800 tax-free allowance for Chinese imports to the U.S. remains valid through May 2, 2025 – orders under this value per shipment qualify for tariff exemption.
To ensure our U.S. customers continue to enjoy a smooth shopping experience—and to help you avoid unexpected last-mile COD fees, we have increased inventory in our U.S. warehouses and will provid Duty Tariff Paid (DTP) Service. Please see the link for details.
For Canada, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain, we offer DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) via Air Transport Direct Line. Customs regulations vary by country. If you have any questions about the amount of tax, you can consult your local customs office for specific tax policies. For United States Warehouse
As our business in the state grows and reaches the tax thresholds in California, Massachusetts, Virginia, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Florida, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Tennessee, Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Washington, we begin collect sales tax on shipments to those states in 2025. Tax-exempt customers may upload documents in their account or provide details at checkout.
For all other U.S. states, your order summary will show "Sales Tax: $0.00" as these locations are not currently affected. If you find that the order is charged GST when you fill in the address (before selecting the shipping method), it is because the GST exemption has not yet taken effect. Please click Select Shipping Method and the tax amount will be updated to $0. Thank you for your understanding.
For Germany Warehouse
VAT is charged on orders from Seeed Studio's Germany warehouses based on the destination country's VAT rate. EU customers are charged the VAT rate of their country, while non-EU customers are typically charged the German VAT rate (19%). Business customers in the EU can claim VAT exemption by entering a valid VAT number at checkout. Additional fees, such as customs duty, import VAT, and freight costs, may apply depending on the shipment's origin and destination.
